As we are quickly approaching the 15th Anniversary of September 11th, many people use this time to reflect on those lives lost during the tragic events that unfolded that day. Many find solace in visiting one of the few sights now made memorable due to those actions, while others attend local ceremonies in their area to pay respect and remember the nearly 3,000 lost lives.
One year ago, Eagle Scout Colin Hill constructed a 9/11 Memorial at the Reliance Fire Company located on Third Street in Berwick. As part of his Eagle Scout Project, Colin used several pieces of steel from the south tower of the World Trade Center to create a statue at the fire company’s location. Colin used the materials to replicate the Twin Towers following an inspired trip to the 9/11 museum back in 2014.
Mr. Dennis Peters, member of the Eagle Scout Review Board, will be in attendance at the September 11th service, being held at the Reliance Fire Company on Sunday at 6pm. The service will consist of a candlelight vigil around the memorial with cake and refreshments to follow.
All are welcome as this event it open to the public.
